Overview:

The Famous is an upscale Bistro located at Bastos, Yaoundé. The surroundings are calm, but once you step in, you will find a lively scene of people of all demographics. 

If you’re looking to just eat and spend quiet time, the lower level would be ideal. If you want to listen to music with an in house DJ, the upper level is the best. There are private rooms at the upper level. In the exterior of the building there’s and open area with more sitting and a large screen for entertainment. There, you can also find more private rooms. 

Towards the end of the parking lot, there are brightly colored wings, with “I am Famous” where you can take your pictures. 

Pros:

The lighting at each level compliments the atmosphere, from warm and cozy at the lower level, to lively at the upper level and the exterior of the building. The DJ keeps the scene lively. You can have your meat grilled in front of you. If you can’t finish your food, you can request for it to be packed. Customer service is excellent. 

The waiter made sure our glasses were filled on time, with the wine we ordered. The waiter was also gracious to take our photo when we requested. 

Cons:

This is not a place for fine dining. It’s an upscale Bistro. So it makes some of the prices on the menu hard to justify. 

Recommendation:

For a seafood lover, the Tiger Shrimps weren’t fresh. Maybe it wasn’t cured with citrus juice, because it had a smell. But the taste was delicious. 

Sometimes they bring famous artists. Check their Facebook page. But, it could be very pricey on such days. 

They don’t serve water for free. If you want water, make it part of your order. 

Methods of payment:

They don’t accept mobile money. Be sure to have cash or a debit card. We advise against debit or credit cards because, if there’s a problem with the transaction, it’s a strenuous process to get your money back.
